An Audit Senior usually performs most engagements with little supervision. They direct and review the work of assistants and semi-seniors and are capable of making decisions on most accounting and auditing matters.

    Desired Skills and Experience
    • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant public accounting experience
    • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills
    • Solid technical background
    • CPA license or must be on the path towards obtaining certification

Tax Managers have overall charge of assigned engagements and typically serve as the primary contact/service provider from the Tax Department. Tax Managers direct and review the work and approve the tax returns of Tax Seniors and Tax Preparers. Tax Managers also perform tax planning and consulting as well as preparing individuals, estate, trust and corporate tax returns and researching unusual tax matters.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 7 years experience in public accounting
  • Technically proficient understanding of complex taxation issues and implications, federal and state tax law and capable of preparing more complicated tax returns
  • Experience in middle-market manufacturing and distribution companies
  • Multi-state and Estate planning experience preferred
  • Excellent client services and communication skills
  • Ability to direct, supervise and train department staff
  • Ability to make independent decisions on most clients issues and concerns
  • CPA license required

Tax Preparer
The Tax Preparer’s primary purpose is to assist the Tax Managers in any capacity required. In this capacity, the Tax Preparer will prepare tax returns and tax projections, calculate estimated tax payments, research technical issues, and anything else a Tax Manager may request in connection with serving the firm’s clients.

Essential Functions
  • Assume responsibility for completion of tax returns and other assigned tasks in a timely manner under the supervision of the Tax Managers.
  • Maintenance and organization of assigned projects, obtaining missing data, appropriately question information received, communicating with managers as necessary.
  • Identify and obtain general understanding of technical issues on more complex engagements and communicate to manager as early in the engagement as possible.
  • Become proficient in the preparation of corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax returns prepared by the firm.
  • Preparation of work papers in accordance with firm policies that are neat and well organized.
  • Perform thorough self-review of work submitted to managers.
  • Perform bookkeeping services and prepare payroll related returns for clients as necessary.
  • Learn and follow the firm’s policies and procedures.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of firm technology, including the use of tax research and projection tools, Microsoft Word and Excel, and firm tax preparation and time and billing software.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of tax and accounting research techniques and the various research sources in the firm library.
  • Continuous development of technical knowledge in relevant tax and accounting matters.
  • Actively seek out additional responsibilities from managers.
  • Begin to acquire skills necessary to communicate and develop relationships with clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Audit Department, engagement managers, or engagement partners.
  • Working Conditions
  • Involves in office work and occasional work on the client’s premises.
  • Moderate to low overtime required throughout the year. High level of overtime may be required during firm busy season.
  • Use of the personal vehicle is required
  • Required Experience
  • Tax Preparers normally have zero to three years experience in public accounting.
